Tim Foley

Tim began his 23-year Secret Service career in 1987 in his hometown of Chicago. In 1993, he was selected to serve as an Agent/Attorney in the Secret Service’s Office of the Chief Counsel where he provided legal advice to the Director and senior staff and represented the Secret Service in court and Congressional hearings. In 1996, he returned to more traditional agent duties with the Presidential Protective Division where he developed and implemented security plans for the President and First Family at sites around the world. In 2001, he was promoted to the position of Special Agent in Charge of the Office of the Chief Counsel. In 2004, Tim was transferred to Houston, where he was selected for appointment to the federal government’s Senior Executive Service and assigned as the Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service Houston Field District.
PREVIOUS PUBLIC & PRIVATE SECURITY EXPERIENCE
Tim has helped plan and lead operations for many National Special Security Events, including multiple presidential inaugurations, Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the 2002 Winter Olympics, and the G-8 Summit. He also served as a Secret Service representative to the Transition Planning Office during the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and as the Chair of the Use-of-Force Policy Committee for the new Department.
In his role with Spectra Energy, Tim was responsible for the development and leadership of numerous protection programs for top personnel and vital operations at a premier North American midstream and pipeline company. Throughout both the United States and Canada, the company was responsible for over 22,000 miles of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids pipelines, as well as the storage of nearly 305 billion cubic feet of natural gas. The company's operations also included the gathering, processing, and local distribution of natural gas.
Tim is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago and the DePaul University College of Law. Tim and his wife have been married for thirty-one years and have two children. Tim is an avid reader, enjoys cooking, barbecuing and spending time on the water.
