Vice President, Corporate Security & Crisis Management
John Presley serves as Athos’ Vice-President, Corporate Security and Crisis Management. He brings over 30 years of experience including the U.S. Army, police, FBI, corporate security, and as an entrepreneur. John left public service as an Agent with the FBI to move to corporate security where he held positions such as Security Director for Enron and Global Security Director for one of the General Electric businesses. He also has previous experience in academia as the Executive Director and Adjunct Professor for the University of Houston- Downtown's Masters of Security Management program. John is very accustomed to working with senior executives on complex and sensitive issues and throughout his career has traveled the globe extensively.
While in law enforcement John served in many roles and received special training/certifications in areas such as investigations, firearms instructor training, forensics, crisis management, surveillance, tactical operations, executive protection, and communications. Over the last 18 years, that background has been utilized in the private security management profession in such areas as managing international and business risk, conducting due-diligence, vulnerability assessments, investigations/audits, crisis management, FCPA issues and programs, managing travel risk programs, addressing high-net-worth individual’s unique security risk, and supporting special projects related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
John holds a Master’s Degree in Security Management from the University of Houston – Downtown. He is a member of the Energy Security Council (ESC), both the International and Houston Chapters of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS), the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA).
John is active in his local community mentoring youth and supporting organizations for children with disabilities. He is an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and does woodworking as a hobby. He and his wife, a medical professional, have four children.
